Hey Sean,

I’m honored to be mentioned here!

I’d like to nominate Nicholas Cannasse to head up this list. In my mind he is the most influential individual in Flash.

Without his contribution of the MTASC command line compiler, influence on future Macrodobe releases, and tireless advocacy for open source, I certainly wouldn’t have been able to tolerate SWF development for this long.

wow, this is a huge call to action to me… we need to get more women’s names on this list! meaning we need to get more girls into actionscript in general.

i suggest adding lisa larson-kelly for her work with flash video/fms.

Did you pull those bios off people’s web sites? If so, I really need to update mine.

I’ll mention that John Wilker is formally the host of The Flex Show; not the cohost. I’m the producer, he’s the host. That’s how I split hairs.

I try–with moderate success–to use Jeffry instead of Jeff. I still respond to both, though.

I also have a second podcast, the Flextras Friday Lunch ( http://www.flextras.com/blog/index.cfm/Flextras-Friday-Lunch ), which is a weekly live Q&A session. And of course, the Flextras line of components.

I’ll stop tooting my own horn.

The top 2 most important flashers are Nicolas Cannasse and John Grden. They are innovative, cutting edge, open (as in open source, open to feedback, and accessible). Remember before Papervision John was the man on the red 5 team and before that he was a published Game Development Author. Nicolas brought us mtasc and haxe allowing for command line compilation of SWFs, swf optimization, and with haxe an actually object oriented language to write swfs in. Most of the others do a lot of important things, like tutorials on how to do stuff, but that is far different from the level of innovation and the track record and the dedication to openness of John and Nicolas. I follow the writings of most people on this list and tons of open source projects and I can make this point without a doubt in my mind.
